Job Description


Has strategic influence on the function and the local market and directly contributes to the functional area strategy. Exercising operational control over resources, policy formation and holds accountability for end results.Leads and manages a team of professionals and sub-function managers, who provide services and deliver activities in line with the objectives of the functional area. Sets direction and mission for the teams, enables performance, balancing tasks and builds capacity through growing talent and skills. May also influence, shape and implement policies and standards for the sub-function.Typically reports to the Director.

Key Accountabilities And Decision Ownership

  • Manage the Technology department to deliver according to company targets and strategies with positive participation as a company executive
  • Ensure the effective and efficient management of activities and resources of network planning, implementation, optimisation, operation and maintenance delivering best in class network quality and availability.
  • Ensure the management of IT systems architecture; planning,
  • implementation and operation delivering the quality, availability and capacity required to support all business units
  • Manage the design, build, project management and service management of enterprise communication products and services
  • Develop capabilities with local high quality resources to cooperate with and engage in Group Technology projects and
  • activates
  • Develop policies and procedures for the technology department to support all business objectives
  • Develop and implement professional technical disciplines, protocols and standards across the organization including SPOC for technology and cyber security risks and mitigations
  • Plan, design, engineer, test and develop efficient network solutions, fulfilling the Vodacom strategy
  • Engineering design of the network, the optimization and harmonization of the network
  • End to end customer service assurance with focus on high
  • availability, minimum restoration times and customer management
  • Develop and lead by example a health and safety conscious technology team and culture

Must have technical / professional qualification

  • Leads, motivates and develops large teams
  • Results driven and goal oriented through proper planning
  • Maintain Business and Group strategy focus
  • Focus on internal and external customer delight
  • BSC in Telecom and / or IT as a minimum
  • Min 20 years of management experience in IT, Networks and / or Telecom
  • MBA or similar management qualification advantageous
  • Financial Management Skills
  • People Management Skills with great records
  • Ability to drive change within Technology function with business priorities in mind
  • Stakeholders & Vendor management skills
