Job Description
Technical Sales Support for Grinding supports first line technical issues in the Market Area Africa (MA), resulting in the provision of technical solutions to support customer needs and issues relating to products defined and the support of the more complex technical scopes of proposals.
Under the Grinding, Bulk and Pyro (GBP) Business Line (BL) portfolio, lays the Grinding product group (PG), which requires technical competence as well as a drive to assist in problem solving. This role is a pivotal in terms of aligning the Global Product Line specialists with the Market Area (MA) and customer needs.
Essentially, the Technical Sales Support role works with the Sales Area to effectively deliver a seamless experience, that delivers a “technical solution” that meets the customer’s needs, thus supporting the sales team to, to enhance and build relationships with the downstream effect on sales realisation.
Job Duties And Responsibilities
- Providing high technical expertise in the area of troubleshooting, process knowledge, technical incidents, operation and maintenance for grinding, through site visits and using Digital and Remote services (i.e. Augmented Reality)
- Specializing to own technology areas to provide expertise support in site operations and technology related incidents and inquiries or problems
- Participating in technical warranty claim or customer complaint handling
- Act as a trainer for internal/external technical trainings, for products
- Expertise support for problem management, technical sales support, R&D and product development
- Support IB Validation
- CTO (Configure to Order) and ETO (Engineered to Order) quotation development through solution definition and technical research ; inspection report reviews, recommendations and solution as requested
- Supporting Field Services with Technical information/details
- Supporting the sales process and assisting with the Technical information flow and part numbers
- Assisting with developing and influencing and negotiations when required
- Support overall sales funnel development
- Ensure timely progress of sales cases throughout the different phases
- Travelling throughout Africa and globally to support sales activities, problem determination, product training, etc. on a case-by-case basis
Qualifications And Experience
- HND/BSc. Metallurgical Engineering / Process Engineering, with a minimum of 5 year’s field experience in Process Equipment or,
- Must have extensive Sales experience
- Experience of applications in minerals processing
- Must have up to date understanding & knowledge as a technical product specialist
- Understanding and experience of sales and financials
- Familiarity with a broad range of Minerals Processing Equipment
- Familiar with the core processes of the sales process
- Experience in complex relationships
- Advanced verbal and writing skills
- Computer literacy and MS Office Skills are an inherent requirement

- Use of keyboards, telephones, copiers, telefax, visits and movement through shops, and travel experiences
- Climbing of stairs, ladders, scaffolds at jobsites and customer facilities
- Full driver’s license with clean drivers record and be able to travel regularly
