Position : Blastman – Takoradi
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Blastman to support our mining operations in Takoradi. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe handling, transportation, and use of explosives, executing precise and controlled blasting operations, and supporting activities at the magazine and blast sites. The ideal candidate will be well-versed in Ghana’s mining regulations, demonstrate technical expertise in blasting procedures, and prioritize safety in all aspects of their work.
Key Responsibilities
- Explosive Handling & TransportSafely handle, transport, and load explosive materials in strict accordance with internal protocols and statutory safety procedures.
- Blasting OperationsExecute blasting operations in line with blast designs, ensuring correct timing, sequencing, and energy distribution. Interpret and implement tie-up designs effectively.
- Safety & CompliancePerform safety inspections before, during, and after blasting activities to ensure adherence to Minerals and Mining (Explosives) Regulations, 2012 (L.I. 2177) and other applicable regulations.
- Guarding & Security DutiesProvide perimeter security and perform guard duties during explosive operations to ensure personnel and equipment safety.
- Magazine OperationsSupport day-to-day magazine activities, including the receipt, storage, issuance, and stock control of explosives. Maintain accurate inventory and ensure proper documentation.
- Accident and Incident ReportingPromptly report any incidents, near misses, unsafe conditions, or issues to line management, and contribute to investigation and corrective action processes.
- Operational ReadinessEnsure the blast site is adequately prepared and secure for operations. Confirm the presence and readiness of necessary tools, equipment, and personnel.
- Documentation & ReportingComplete detailed shift reports, charge-up documentation, and blast summaries at the end of each operation.

Qualifications & Certifications
- Valid Blasting Certificate issued by the Minerals Commission of Ghana.
- Valid Ghanaian Driver’s License (Class B or higher).
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in a blasting role within a mining or quarry environment.
- Experience with both electric and non-electric firing systems and ventilation circuits.
Technical Skills
- Proficient in reading and interpreting blast designs, tie-up layouts, and safety documentation.
- Strong working knowledge of Ghana’s mining safety laws and explosives regulations, especially L.I. 2177.
- Familiarity with standard operating procedures for re-entry and post-blast inspection.
