Join our team and play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance with customs regulations across the West African Area (WAF).
Key Responsibilities:
Management:
- Provide expert guidance on compliance issues to shareholders across WAF countries.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Stay up-to-date with changes in customs laws, regulations, and trade agreements.
- Understand tariff classifications, valuation methods, duty rates, and local customs rules and laws within WAF countries.
Risk Assessments:
- Conduct risk assessments to identify potential compliance issues.
- Develop strategies to mitigate risks related to customs regulations, duties, and taxes.
Internal Audits:
- Perform regular audits of customs documentation and processes to ensure accuracy and compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
Recordkeeping:
- Maintain comprehensive records of all customs activities, including documentation, permits, licenses, and audit trails.
Investigations and Resolutions:
- Investigate incidents of non-compliance or customs-related issues and resolve them efficiently.
- Liaise with customs authorities and legal counsel as necessary.
Training and Education:
- Provide training and guidance to employees involved in customs activities to ensure understanding and compliance with customs procedures and regulations.
Performance:
- Oversee WAF Customs Compliance Control.
- Create and manage all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Internal Operating Procedures (IOPs).
- Implement and uphold Global and Local Customs Compliance standards.
- Manage engagement with all Customs stakeholders in WAF.
- Conduct periodic compliance reviews with countries in the region.
Required Skills:
- A passionate individual dedicated to supporting Customs Compliance.
- Comfortable with change management and capable of delivering high-quality interaction and collaboration.
- Enjoys collaborating across multiple teams and geographic locations.
- Knowledge of Shipping and Customs is an added advantage.
- A team player with the ability to manage stakeholders virtually.
