Position : Site Engineer / Field Supervisor – Tema
Job Description
Valedictorian Ltd is seeking a competent and hands-on Site Engineer / Field Supervisor to support the execution of civil and infrastructure works on a project in Tema.
The successful candidate will be responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising daily construction activities, ensuring that the works are executed safely, correctly and in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality requirements and the project programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise daily site activities involving roadworks, drainage, earthworks, concrete works, paving, kerbs and boundary-wall construction.
- Interpret construction drawings, specifications, method statements and BOQ requirements.
- Set out and verify line, level, alignment and dimensions in coordination with the survey team.
- Supervise subgrade preparation, laterite filling, base-course works, compaction, asphalt works and associated road finishes.
- Monitor excavation, bedding, concrete, reinforcement, formwork and installation activities for drains and other structures.
- Allocate labour, equipment and materials to the different work fronts.
- Coordinate foremen, equipment operators, subcontractors and suppliers on site.
- Ensure that the required manpower, machinery and materials are available ahead of planned activities.
- Check the quality of workmanship and materials and immediately report or rectify non-conforming work.
- Monitor testing requirements, including field-density tests, concrete sampling and other quality-control inspections.
- Measure completed quantities and maintain accurate site records for valuation and progress reporting.
- Prepare daily site reports covering manpower, equipment, work completed, materials received, delays and constraints.
- Track actual progress against the approved construction programme and highlight potential delays.
- Ensure proper utilization and safeguarding of company equipment, tools and materials.
- Enforce health, safety and environmental requirements, including PPE, toolbox talks and safe working practices.
- Maintain good housekeeping and orderly movement of personnel and equipment around the site.
- Attend site coordination meetings and provide clear information on progress, requirements and constraints.
- Carry out any other site-related duties assigned by the Project Manager.

Candidate Profile
- HND or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Engineering, Building Technology or a related discipline.
- Minimum of three years’ relevant experience in civil or infrastructure construction.
- Practical experience in roadworks, drainage, earthworks, concrete works or industrial infrastructure is strongly preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, levels, specifications and BOQs.
- Good understanding of construction methods, site measurement and quality-control procedures.
- Ability to supervise labour, subcontractors and equipment on multiple work fronts.
- Strong planning, problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to prepare clear daily reports and maintain accurate site documentation.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word.
- Knowledge of AutoCAD or construction-planning software would be an advantage.
- Good written and spoken English.
- Strong commitment to safety, quality and timely project delivery.
- Willingness to work full-time at the project site in Tema.
