Cambridge Halls Academy is a private, coeducational day and boarding school established to provide international education to students of all races and creeds beginning from creche class – Upper Junior High School. CHA offers a curriculum modelled along the English National Curriculum and Cambridge International Examinations, IGCSE and Ghana Education Service(GES) with English as the medium of instruction.We are seeking an experienced and compassionate
School Matron
to join our boarding school community. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the welfare, safety, and day-to-day operations of our boarding students, ensuring that they have a safe, secure, and happy environment in which to live and learn.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the welfare of boarding students and ensure that they receive appropriate medical and emotional support
- Manage the boarding house and ensure that it is well-maintained, clean, and safe
- Plan and organise activities and events for boarding students, such as sports, games, and outings
- Ensure that students adhere to the school’s rules and regulations, and enforce disciplinary action where necessary
- Provide first aid, basic medical care, and support for students as required
- Act as a liaison between students, parents, and staff
- Provide emotional support and counselling to students as needed
- Keep accurate records of student attendance and behaviour, and report any concerns to the appropriate parties
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, such as a school matron, residential supervisor, or house parent
- A relevant educational qualification, such as a degree in education, nursing, or social work
- A current first aid certification and the ability to administer basic medical care
Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of child development, including physical, emotional, and social needs
- Understanding of child protection laws and regulations
- Experience in managing a residential environment, including cleaning, maintenance, and health and safety procedures
- Ability to work with young people from diverse cultural backgrounds and with varying abilities
- Good computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic administrative tasks
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organisational and time-management skills
- A warm and caring personality, with a genuine interest in the welfare of young people
