ORGANIZATIONAL CONTEXT
Through the adoption in 2015 of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) nations are increasingly taking the lead in sustainably improving the wellbeing of their populations and building their own capacities to design and deliver effective anti-hunger solutions. World Food Programme (WFP) recognizes strong and sustained capacities are critical to addressing the multiple causes of hunger and responding to the food security and nutrition needs of vulnerable populations over the long-term. Alongside its Programme delivery, WFP seeks to strengthen national and local capacity and work through country systems, presenting opportunities for scale, impact, and sustainability. WFP embraces a Whole of Society approach to zero hunger which means it engages with a range of state and non-state actors to achieve national SDG2 food security and nutrition objectives and targets, as well as relevant SDG17 objectives. The WFP Ghana Country Office has been significantly dedicated to advancing Government of Ghana initiatives and is moving beyond the conventional capacity strengthening to embrace programs with a catalytic multiplier effect. In the forthcoming Country Strategic Plan (2G-CSP) from 2024 to 2028, WFP, in collaboration with Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), aspires to empower the youth of Ghana by enhancing their digital capacity to increase their productivity and build resilience in food and nutrition security.
