ORGANISATIONAL CONTEXT

The United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) is a network of strategically located hubs established to support humanitarian organizations and the broader international community in responding to emergencies and crises. UNHRD provides essential services such as storage, easy access to critical supplies, and technical assistance. The Programme Associate (partnership) (G6) within the United Nations Humanitarian Response Depot (UNHRD) role is established in each hub to support the Head of the Hub in the key areas of partnership development, advocacy, and communication. The Programme Associate (Partnerships) G6 will play a pivotal role in strengthening relations with donors, local United Nations agencies, and intergovernmental and non-governmental organizations to enhance visibility and foster greater collaboration.

MAJOR DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the direct supervision of the Hub Manager and overall supervision of the Country Director, the staff will be responsible for the following duties.

  •  Support the development of a localized partnership strategy aligned with wider UNHRD goals and implement the subsequent workplan,
  •  In collaboration with the hub manager and the network partnerships team, research and identify potential partners and collaborators for project initiatives/hub activities and support the preparation of project proposals,
  •  Coordinate and communicate with local/regional partners, agencies, NGOs, and government institutions to enhance partnerships and advocacy efforts,
  •  Attend and actively participate in network events and conferences to demonstrate how the UNHRD platform can foster partnership and drive forward innovative solutions in emergency preparedness and response,
  •  Act as a focal point in capacity building of WFP staff, cooperating partners, and national government as required,
  •  Ensure proper documentation of partnership agreements, MOUs, and other relevant documents,
  •  Conduct data monitoring activities and record data accurately within the specific technical area of partnership and communication. Maintain consistency in information presented to stakeholders, adhering to corporate standards,
  •  Prepare comprehensive reports and data analysis, highlighting trends, opportunities and challenges in the hub’s partnership and communication activities both for internal and external stakeholders,
  •  Assist in technical support in the development and execution of communication strategies and activities,
  •  Create content through capturing pictures, videos, etc., to provide engaging content showcasing the hub’s activities and UNHRD tangible results,
  •  Participate in specific tasks related to strategy, partner engagement, and communications within the hub, ensuring alignment at the network level,
  •  Ensure activities adhere to established targets and align with WFP’s policies and procedures, eIPhs1S BIpnb
  •  Liaise with internal counterparts, fostering effective collaboration, and supporting the implementation and monitoring of ongoing partnership and communication activities.
  •  Perform other related duties as assigned .

Minimum Academic Qualifications

  •  First-level university degree in communications, social sciences, public relations, or any related field is a requirement.
  •  Minimum six (6) years experience in communication, partnership, advocacy, public relations, or any related field.

Desired Experiences for Entry into the role:

  •  Outstanding writing skills with the ability to create communication content (pictures, videos, articles, posts, etc).
  •  Excellent communication, presentation and problem-solving skills.
  •  Proven analytical and report-writing skills.
  •  Ability to work very well in teams.
  •  Graphic Design experience with solid knowledge of Canva, Trello, Adobe Photoshop or any other graphic design tool. Proactive. Start-up spirit.
  •  Agile, effective, can work under pressure and can identify independent work priorities.
  •  Ability to engage with stakeholders and partners, and advocate for UNHRD work.

Language : Fluency in both oral and written communication in English; a second UN language will be an advantage.
