A Freight Forwarding Company is seeking to hire an Operations Manager to lead its freight forwarding and logistics operations across its different offices. This position requires a person with practical experience in Freight Forwarding and Customs processes as well as pricing and tender management. The incumbent for this role must possess strong analytical capabilities and people management skills. The person must also be exceedingly well organised, flexible, and results-oriented.Overall responsible for overseeing the daily effective running of air freight and ocean freight operations as well as supporting other business functions to ensure the smooth running of the organisation.
Job Responsibilities:

• Develop strategic operational plans and work with various teams to ensure the achievement of these plans and also ensure optimised productivity across the teams.
• Improve operational effectiveness by reviewing and developing processes and policies where necessary.
• Work with operational teams to significantly reduce waste in the operational processes and specifically, reduce demurrage and storage payments by establishing root causes and implementing solutions.
• Implement and drive operational excellence initiatives that will contribute to the organisations operational excellence culture in the long term.
• Conduct regular operational meetings with relevant teams to review the previous period’s performance and ensure the implementation of action plans to resolve any operational challenges identified and make improvements
• Ensure the efficient use of operational software, that all jobs are duly recorded accurately, and that clients are updated on the status of their shipment regularly or on timelines as agreed with customers
• Assist in resolving any client operational issues and ensure the achievement of company Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
• Responsible for coordinating all Requests for Quotes/ Information (RFQs / RFIs) and tenders and ensuring that these are responded to on time.
• Responsible for ensuring prompt responses to all pricing requests for both sea
• Ensure effective performance management for direct reports
• Ensure up-to-date knowledge on industry standards to ensure adherence and compliance to standards
• Work together with Sales and other team leads to seek out opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships
