Position : Human Resources Manager – Accra

Job Summary
Our client, a growing apparel and fashion company based in Accra, Ghana, is seeking an experienced and people-focused Human Resources Manager to lead the company’s human capital strategy and day-to-day HR operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for building a high-performing, disciplined, inclusive, and employee-centered workforce while ensuring that HR policies and practices support the company’s production, commercial, creative, and growth objectives.
The role requires a hands-on HR professional who understands the dynamics of apparel production, retail, creative teams, artisans, and operational staff, and can effectively balance employee welfare with business performance.
Key Responsibilities
1. HR Strategy & Leadership



  1. Develop and implement HR strategies aligned with the company’s overall business objectives.
  2. Advise senior management on workforce planning, organizational structure, employee relations, and people-related risks.
  3. Develop HR policies, procedures, employee handbooks, and systems appropriate for a growing apparel business.
  4. Establish effective performance-management and employee-development frameworks.
  5. Provide regular HR reports and workforce insights to management.

2. Recruitment & Workforce Planning

  1. Lead recruitment and selection for production, design, merchandising, sales, and administration, logistics, and management positions.
  2. Develop accurate job descriptions and competency profiles for key positions.
  3. Build talent pipelines for skilled garment workers, tailors, pattern makers, designers, supervisors, and other specialist roles.
  4. Coordinate onboarding and orientation programs for new employees.
  5. Develop workforce plans based on production requirements and business growth.

3. Employee Relations

  1. Promote a positive, professional, and respectful workplace culture.
  2. Handle employee grievances, disciplinary matters, conflict resolution, and workplace investigations.
  3. Ensure consistent application of company policies and employment procedures.
  4. Act as a trusted point of contact for employees and management.
  5. Develop initiatives that improve employee engagement, motivation, retention, and productivity.

4. Performance Management

  1. Implement and manage a structured performance appraisal system.
  2. Work with department heads to establish measurable KPIs and performance objectives.
  3. Identify underperformance and coordinate appropriate performance-improvement plans.
  4. Recognize high-performing employees and support succession planning.
  5. Monitor staff attendance, punctuality, productivity, and disciplinary trends.

5. Learning & Development

  1. Conduct regular training-needs assessments.
  2. Develop and coordinate training programs for employees at all levels.
  3. Support technical training in areas such as garment production, quality control, workplace safety, customer service, and leadership.
  4. Develop career-development and succession-planning initiatives.
  5. Promote continuous learning and skills development within the organization.

6. Compensation & Benefits

  1. Manage payroll processes in collaboration with Finance.
  2. Maintain accurate employee compensation and benefits records.
  3. Support salary reviews, incentives, allowances, bonuses, and other employee benefits.
  4. Conduct periodic salary and benefits benchmarking where appropriate.
  5. Ensure payroll and employee records are accurate, confidential, and properly maintained.

7. Compliance & HR Administration

  1. Ensure HR practices comply with applicable Ghanaian employment laws and regulations.
  2. Maintain accurate personnel files, employment contracts, leave records, attendance records, and other HR documentation.
  3. Ensure appropriate procedures are followed for recruitment, termination, disciplinary action, leave, and employee benefits.
  4. Monitor workplace policies and practices to minimize employment-related risks.
  5. Maintain confidentiality of employee and company information.

8. Health, Safety & Employee Welfare

  1. Work with management to promote a safe and healthy workplace, particularly within garment-production environments.
  2. Support implementation of workplace health and safety policies.
  3. Coordinate employee welfare initiatives and occupational-health programs.
  4. Identify workplace risks and recommend appropriate corrective measures.
  5. Promote a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Industrial Relations, Psychology, or a related field.
  • Professional HR certification or membership is an advantage.
  • 5–8 years of progressive HR experience, preferably within apparel, manufacturing, fashion, retail, FMCG, or another operational environment.
  • At least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial HR position.
  • Demonstrated experience managing recruitment, employee relations, performance management, payroll coordination, and HR compliance.
  • Good working knowledge of Ghanaian employment practices and HR regulations.
  • Strong HR documentation, reporting, and organisational skills.
  • Experience managing both operational/production employees and professional or creative staff is highly desirable.
