Job Description
Our client is looking for an experienced agriculture professional to join them as a Farm Manager. The Farm Manager will be assigned to farms held by the owners of the company for operation to yield maximum net returns, while maintaining capital improvements on the farm. In this position, it is expected that the successful candidate would take on a variety of responsibilities ranging from helping to develop annual production plans with the owner(s), managing and supervising all activities on the farms and securing necessary items for the farms as required. Maintaining yearly contracts with all farm hands, while attracting new farm management businesses and prospects. The successful candidate should have experience in various farming techniques, including tillage and conservation practices, irrigation, and fertilization. In addition to actual crop production planning and risk management practices.
Farming Operations: Operation covers over 1,000s of acres of mango, maize and animal farms and requires the expertise of an experienced manager, who is well vested in the agricultural production value chain, ensuring a safe work environment as well as using environmentally sustainable approaches to production.

Qualification Required & Experience
Experience:
• Bachelor of Science Degree in Agriculture. Work experience plus Diploma may be taken in consideration in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree (required)
• 5+ years Farm experience, preferably in a leadership role
• Experience in managing large-scale farming operations (required).
• Candidates highly interested in horticulture are encouraged to apply.

Skills and Abilities
• Proactive, Innovative and Willingness to learn new concepts quickly
• Time conscious and ability to work independently and be highly productive with minimal supervision.
• Ability to acclimate well to changing tasks and priorities/ computer Literate
Duties and Responsibilities
• Farm Business Management: Budget creation and procurement of supplies and materials; excellent record keeping; inventory management and logistics; preparing reports on operational and financial performance of the farm; maintaining positive business and community relationships.
• Supervision of tillage, planting, soil building, irrigation, crop nutrition, integrated pest management, harvesting, post-harvest washing, trimming and storage, value-added processing, and farm machinery maintenance and repair.
• Supervision of the primary operations of the farm including crop selection, crop cycle planning, farm worker training and safety, labor management, risk management including employee and product safety, crop disease diagnosis and management. • Employee Management: directing the daily activity of farm staff, providing farm employees with guidance and training, providing coaching to employees when necessary, participating in recruitment when positions become open.
• Conduct workshops and training sessions for famers in collaboration with management with focus on sustainable agriculture and environmental stewardship.
• Schedule maintenance routines for farm implements and repair of tools, machines, structures, buildings across the farm including regular cleaning and organization. Projects may include repairing fencing and gates.
• Research new approaches to simple machine operations, maintenance and repair.
• Seeks appropriate solutions for more complex maintenance and repairs activities.
• Proactively monitors and addresses safety and security concerns. Conducts regular inspections of items such as fire extinguishers.
• Make timely planting, fertilization, pest and disease management and harvest decisions.
• Manage the farm budgets.
• Inspect facilities to assess and maintain capital improvements.
• Performs other duties and tasks as assigned by Supervisor.
