Background
A national business association representing the export-oriented apparel industry in Ghana is being supported through a development partnership implemented by the Foreign Trade Association of German Retailers (AVE) and financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). The project aims to strengthen the association’s institutional capacity, expand its service offering, and improve its visibility and positioning within global value chains.
As part of this effort, a full-day programme will be organised in Berlin in September 2025. The programme will include a strategy workshop, a curated networking session, and a panel discussion with relevant actors from the German and European fashion and sustainability sectors. The aim is to support the association in refining its positioning, strengthening its communication capacity, and expanding its stakeholder engagement.
Assignment Objectives
The consultant will design and implement the programme in close coordination with AVE and the association’s representatives. The overall objective is to support the association in:
- Developing a clearer and more buyer-relevant positioning of the West African apparel sector
- Improving its strategic communication and storytelling practices
- Facilitating structured exchange with key stakeholders in Germany and Europe
Tasks
- Develop a concept note for the programme, including methodology, session formats, stakeholder approach, and integration of product samples
- Identify and coordinate relevant panel speakers and networking guests (with preference for African diaspora professionals in fashion and sourcing)
- Facilitate the full-day programme in Berlin, including the strategy workshop, panel discussion, and networking session
- Provide conceptual guidance for the setup and use of product samples during the event
- Coordinate closely with AVE and the association’s team throughout the process (virtual meetings and email)
- Prepare a short final report summarising key outcomes and recommendations for follow-up

Required Profile
- Proven experience in designing and moderating strategy workshops, networking formats, or positioning processes, ideally in the fashion, sourcing, or creative industries
- Excellent understanding of sustainable fashion, buyer expectations, and international sourcing trends
- Experience working with associations, export-oriented SMEs, or sector representation bodies, ideally in Africa
- Strong facilitation, stakeholder engagement, and communication skills
- Excellent English (working language); German is an asset
- Familiarity with development cooperation and multi-stakeholder settings is an advantage
Level of Effort
- Total of 13 working days, including:
- 6 days for preparation (remote)
- 3 days for facilitation and on-site delivery in Berlin
- 4 days for reporting and coordination
