Organization Overview:



Inspire Her Ghana (www.inspireherr.org) is a non-profit organization dedicated to empowering girls, women, and communities through menstrual health interventions, education, skill development, and community engagement. Our mission is to address period poverty, promote menstrual equity, and create supportive environments where menstruating individuals can thrive.

Board Member Recruitment:

We are currently seeking distinguished and highly experienced professionals to join our Board of Directors. As a board member, you will play a crucial role in guiding the strategic direction of Inspire Her Ghana, ensuring we achieve our mission and maximize our impact.

Profiles We Are Looking For:

1. Governance and Leadership

• Profile: Senior executives or seasoned board members with extensive experience in non-profit or corporate governance.
• Skills:Strategic planning, leadership, compliance, organizational oversight, and a track record of guiding organizations to achieve their missions.
• Responsibilities: Provide strategic direction, ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, and oversee the overall management of the organization.

2. Finance Professionals

• Profile:High-level finance professionals such as CFOs, senior accountants, or financial advisors with substantial experience in financial management.
• Skills: Advanced budgeting, financial planning, auditing, fundraising, and investment management skills.
• Responsibilities: Oversee financial planning and management, ensure financial stability and transparency, and support fundraising efforts.

3. Legal Expertise

• Profile:Senior lawyers or legal advisors with significant experience in non-profit law and corporate governance.
• Skills: Deep understanding of regulatory requirements, contracts, intellectual property, and risk management.
• Responsibilities:Provide legal advice, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, and manage risk.

4. Educator or Education Professionals

• Profile: Senior educators or academic leaders with extensive experience in curriculum development, educational policy, and program evaluation.
• Skills:Expertise in educational theory and practice, instructional design, assessment, and educational leadership.
• Responsibilities:Provide guidance on educational programs, ensure the alignment of initiatives with educational best practices, support the development and evaluation of training and outreach activities, and contribute to strategic planning for educational projects.

5. Public Health Professionals

• Profile: Senior public health practitioners, medical professionals, policymakers, or academic experts with extensive experience in health-related fields.
• Skills:Expertise in sexual and reproductive health, menstrual health, health education, and education
• Responsibilities:Guide health-related initiatives, advise on public healthand education, and ensure programs align with best practices and evidence-based strategies.

6. Fundraising and Development

• Profile:Highly successful fundraising professionals or development officers with a proven track record in securing large-scale funding.
• Skills:Expertise in grant writing, donor relations, campaign planning, and corporate partnerships.
• Responsibilities:Lead fundraising efforts, secure substantial grants and donations, build relationships with high-profile donors, and develop strategies to ensure financial sustainability.

7. Program Development and Management

• Profile: Senior program managers or development experts with extensive experience in designing and managing large-scale community development and empowerment projects.
• Skills: Advanced program design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and impact assessment skills.
• Responsibilities: Oversee program development, ensure effective implementation, and monitor and evaluate program impact.

8. Marketing and Communications

• Profile:Senior marketing professionals or communications specialists with a strong background in branding and public relations.
• Skills:Expertise in branding, public relations, social media strategy, and stakeholder engagement.
• Responsibilities: Develop and implement advanced marketing strategies, enhance brand visibility, and manage high-level communications with stakeholders.

9. Community and Grassroots Engagement

• Profile:Influential community leaders, activists, or individuals with significant experience in grassroots movements and community mobilization.
• Skills: Expertise in community outreach, mobilization, advocacy, and forming local partnerships.
• Responsibilities:Strengthen community ties, advise on grassroots mobilization strategies, and promote advocacy initiatives to amplify the voices of those we serve.

10. Youth/Young People’s Representative

• Profile: An inspiring young leader, student leader, or young girl who can effectively represent the interests and perspectives of the young girls we serve.
• Skills:Strong understanding of the challenges faced by young girls, excellent communication skills, and a passion for advocacy and empowerment.
• Responsibilities: Provide insights into the needs and challenges of young girls, ensure their voices are heard in decision-making processes, and advocate for initiatives that directly benefit this demographic.

General Responsibilities:

• Attend and actively participate in board meetings and committee meetings.
• Provide strategic oversight and ensure the organization remains true to its mission.
• Cultivate business development initiatives or networks that lead to grant acquisition or funding from both internal and external sources, leveraging their own networks and resources to help secure necessary funds for the organization.
• Contribute to the development and implementation of organizational policies and procedures.
• Act as an ambassador for Inspire Her Ghana, promoting our work and expanding our network.
• Support the Executive Director and team in achieving organizational goals.

Terms of Engagement:

• Voluntary Service: Board service is voluntary and board members not do receive any remuneration.
• Term Length:The standard term of service for board members is three (3) years, with the possibility of renewal for additional terms based on performance and mutual agreement.
• Meetings:Board members are expected to attend regular board meetings, typically held quarterly, as well as any additional committee meetings or special meetings as required.
• Commitment:Board members should be prepared to dedicate sufficient time to fulfill their responsibilities, including preparation for meetings, participation in discussions, and follow-up on assigned tasks.
• Confidentiality: Board members must maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive information pertaining to the organization.
• Conflict of Interest:Board members must disclose any potential conflicts of interest and recuse themselves from decisions where a conflict exists.
• Ethical Standards: Board members are expected to uphold the highest ethical standards and act in the best interest of Inspire Her Ghana at all times.
