Job Description

  • Job Title: Banking Operations Coordinator
  • Duty Station: Accra

PURPOSE:

The Banking Operations Coordinator shall support the Banking Operations Manager in the retail and banking operations of the Institution. He/she will be responsible for coordinating allocated resources to achieve all agreed objectives. The scope of responsibility shall span, but not limited to, providing valuable support in staff management, operations management (cash and non-cash), systems, risk management and client management

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in developing and implementing operational policies and procedures to streamline processes and enhance efficiency.
  • Provide the needed support in ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards, including anti-money laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations.
  • Aid in monitoring Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and metrics to assess operational performance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Contribute towards the hiring, training, and performance management of banking operations staff.
  • Support and collaborate with other departments, such as risk management and compliance, to address operational issues and mitigate risks.
  • Assist in the Implementation of quality assurance measures to maintain high standards of service delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and regulatory changes affecting banking operations.
  • Assist in preparing reports and presentations on operational performance, trends, and initiatives for senior management.
  • Promote a culture of teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement within the banking department.
  • Support the development of cash and non-cash operations policies, manuals, processes and procedures.
  • Coordinate all cash operations to ensure strict adherence to vault and cash box policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate all non-cash operations to ensure strict adherence to non-cash policies and procedures.
  • Liaise with the Finance department to assist in ensuring adequate liquidity for cash operations in all branches/service points.
  • Assist in performing monthly cash-count in the vault for the service points/branches.
  • Assist in performing tasks related to the confirmation and approval of specific transactions.
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to assist in ensuring that workflows, processes, structures and set-up in the branches/service points support efficient service delivery.
  • Support the monitoring of service delivery levels to ensure a consistent match between actual service delivery and agreed institutional standards
  • Aid in ensuring that all staff deliver good quality services to all clients
  • Contribute to developing a strong sense of client orientation amongst all staff in the service points/branches.
  • Support in the effective implementation of service recovery initiatives to ensure that clients’ complaints are effectively addressed.
  • Contribute to ensuring that all staff comply with relevant institutional policies, processes and procedures.
  • Assist to ensure that staff are well informed and trained to implement policies, processes and procedures.
  • Contribute to the full implementation of all recommendations of audit, compliance and other management reports.
  • Support in the preparation and submission of monthly reports on business, operations and other standard reports to management and the relevant support departments.

Required Skills or Experience

EXPERIENCE (Including sector/industry):

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in banking operations.
  • Good understanding of banking processes, products, and regulations.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:

  • Good leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in financial analysis and reporting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL/PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATION:

  • Minimum Qualification – Degree
  • Concentration / Major – Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or related field.
