Job Description
The Area Online Education Manager is a highly trusted member of the Area Presidency’s team who builds strong relationships with key partners (Welfare & Self-Reliance Services, Seminary & Institute leadership, and others). Through these relationships, Area Online Education Managers help individuals enroll and retain in BYU-Pathway, leading them to become spiritually and temporally self-reliant.
The Area Online Education Manager is responsible for BYU-Pathway field operations in the Africa West area. The Area Online Education Manager must create strategic plans aligned with the organization and Area Presidency’s priorities and execute goals supporting these plans. The position also oversees the work of BYU-Pathway and English Connect 3 service missionaries, who help operate the program and oversee weekly gatherings.
Responsibilities
- Execute the vision of the Area Presidency as it relates to education initiatives.
- Build strong partnerships with Church office area leaders.
- Promote BYU-Pathway and English Connect with ecclesiastical leaders.
- Encourage regular feedback from these key partners and Provide regular updates on how BYU-Pathway is supporting area and partner goals
- Organize and support the Service Missionary structure;
- Establish a schedule of missionary training;
- Engage priesthood leaders in sharing information about BYU-Pathway
- Determine best local practices to find new students;
- Organize enrolment efforts through partners.
- Build strong relationships with leaders across the Church Educational System (S&I, BYU, BYU-Idaho, and Ensign College) and internal BYU-Pathway departments (e.g., student success, communication, curriculum, etc.)
- Engage these leaders as needed in the problem-solving process for the assigned areas
- Participate in special projects and performs additional duties as required.
Qualifications
- Must be a member of the Church and worthy of a temple recommend.
- Bachelor’s degree in business management, Administration, Education, Sociology or equivalent. (Master’s degree preferred)
- 5-6 years relevant work experience/post graduate studies or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Advanced knowledge of and work experience in the Africa West Area.
- Higher education administration, WSRS, S&I administration, or management experience is a plus.
- Leadership and Navigation: Strong record of effective leadership and relationship-building with the capability to work well with and be trusted by senior leaders (e.g. Area presidencies, Area leadership, and other officials).
- Problem-Solving: Ability to identify ,address and resolve conflicts within the team.
- Communication: Must possess excellent business writing and communication skills and must be able to prepare succinct, relevant presentations and be adept at presenting to all levels of leadership.
- The competence to speak, write and understand French fluently will be an added advantage.
- Technology Proficiency: Familiarity with online learning platforms, Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and learning management systems(Power BI).
- Proactive project management: Ability to set priorities and lead other people.
- Takes initiative possess the skills to be creative within limits, respects perspectives, adds value to the team or organization.
