Job Description
Dispensary Technicians work under the supervision of pharmacists to organize,stock distribute, and dispense prescription medication.
Duties
1. Receiving prescriptions and checking their validity
2. Processing prescriptions electronically and ensuring all information is complete and accurate
3. Selecting the appropriate medicine and measuring dosages to fill prescriptions
4. Sterilize surfaces and equipment and prepare the pharmacy for opening
5. Greet customers and answer questions
6. Receive prescriptions and check their validity
7. Process prescriptions electronically and ensure all information is complete and accurate
8. Resolve issues when they arise (e.g. rejected insurance claims)
9. Select the appropriate medicine and measure dosages to fill prescriptions
10. Sort, stock, label medication and monitor inventory
11. Undertake administrative tasks (e.g.record-keeping) as assigned
12. Comply with all security measures and quality standards
Requirements and skills
1. Proven experience as Dispensary Technician, 2/3+ experience after service will be a plus
2. Experience with an online prescription system is a plus
3. Knowledge of medication and dosage measurement
4. Knowledge of pharmacy law and medical terminology
5. Excellent communication and customer service skills
6. Outstanding organizational skills
7. Reliable with a keen eye for detail
8. Successful completion of a Dispensary Technician program
9. Must be a certified Dispensary Technician who is in good standing with the Pharmacy council
