Applications are invited from suitably qualified persons for the under-mentioned position in a reputable hospital: Manager, Hospital Finance



Job Function

• Provide leadership and supervision of the hospital’s finance departments in various locations and to safeguard the hospital’s finances and assets

Key Duties / Responsibilities

• Ensure the availability of liquidity and cash flows to support continuous operations and growth and to manage financial risks in the business
• Review prepared medical bills and ensure distribution of medical bills to corporate clients on time in accordance with agreements and MOUs
• Ensure collection of all receivables from corporate clients on behalf of the hospital
• Manage, monitor and control corporate disbursements of the hospital in compliance with corporate policy and satutory requirements. Ensure prompt payment of all SSNIT and tax obligations (i.e income tax, withholding Tax and VATm etc) for the hospital as directed by statute
• Produce timely financial statements for decision making on monthly, qaurterly and annual basis in accordance with statutes, corporate policies international financial reporting standards (IFRS) and other reporting standards
• Carry out financial and economic evaluation of projects, mobilise long-term project financing, manage the long-term project debt, manage project contracts and undertake assessment of project risks.
• Provide accounting services, direction and control of funds to support operations of the hospital’s branches in all its locations
• Liaise with both internal and external auditors for audit of the hospital and ensure that management letters are addressed on schedule
• Provide leadership, direction, motivation and controll in the Finance department
• Manage staff welfare and coordinate all financial activities in the hospital
• Prepare the hospital’s corporate budget covering capital and recurrent budgets
• Monitor and ensure that all departments adhere to the approved budget
• Prepare budget variance reports to the executive and management
• Perform other duties and responsibilities, as assigned

Qualification Required & Experience

• A minimum of a good first degree in a relevant field plus professional accounting qualification (ACCA, ICA, CIMA)
• A post-graduate qualification in Finance/Business Administration will be an advantage
• A minimum of 10 years of relevant post-qualification experience in hospital finance

Competencies

• In-depth knowledge of the corporate financial management systems
• In-depth knowledge of the principles and current practices in finance, accounting and auditing especially related to hospital operations
• Demonstrate high numeracy skills and greater attention to detail
• Effective communication skills and strong interpersonal skills
• Demonstrate in-depth understanding of hospital governance structure and management systems
• Be well informed and abreast of evolving business practices and systems
• Well abreast of relevant financial and other relevant fiduciary laws especially related to hospital operations
• In-depth knowledge of and application of international financial reporting standards and other relevant financial reporting standards
• Possess strong analytical, supervisory, interpersonal and communication skills
