Job Description/Requirements

Introduction

Jobberman Ghana is on a mission to unlock work opportunities in Agriculture for Ghanaian youth -specifically in the rice, soybean, tomato and poultry value chains. The primary objective of the project dubbed Harnessing Agricultural Productivity and Prosperity for Youth (HAPPY) program, is to enhance the well-being, resilience, and active engagement of youth – especially women, in Ghana’s formal agribusiness and related sectors. The project activities will aim to dispense agro-employability-focused education through no-tech, low-tech and high-tech platforms across the regions of Ghana to allow for inclusion and wide adoption. The main goal is to connect over 8,000 youth to employment opportunities in the Agriculture sector within 4 years, with inclusion principles applied to reach youth with disabilities. Key interventions of the HAPPY project include mobilizing job seekers in the respective agriculture value chains, linking participants with employers in the Agriculture sector through the Jobberman recruitment platform, online and offline job promotion, career fairs and other sensitization methods.

Reporting To: Marketing Manager

Key Responsibilities

Organizational

  • Work across the organizations’ focal points to identify media moments, success stories, develop and implement relevant materials and media outreach.
  • Develop and implement a communication strategy that includes media outreach and social media content creation.
  • Generate innovative ways to gain quality media coverage across all channels.

Functional

  • Initiate, draft, edit communications materials, including press kits, fact sheets, infographics and multimedia products.
  • Advise colleagues on media relations and handle media inquiries;
  • Development and maintenance of media contacts and lists;
  • Draft and distribute media advisories, news releases and other materials and design and
  • Organize media events, as appropriate, to promote activities of the organization;
  • Advise and assist colleagues to include media outreach activities such as interviews or press briefings.
  • Provide access for journalists to subject matter experts;
  • Provide effective and timely responses to public information inquiries; and
  • Provide timely strategic advice and creative solutions for dealing with sensitive communications issues and stories.
  • Arrange and coordinate press conferences, and plan events.
  • Support and evaluate the results of communication campaigns with the team.

Qualifications:

  • Understanding of agricultural practices, terminology, and challenges.
  • Relevant experience in the above role impact within the agricultural or NGO space.
  • Knowledge of current trends, issues, and innovations in the agricultural sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to tailor communication to different audiences, including farmers, stakeholders, and the general public.
  • Experience in organizing and promoting events, such as workshops, seminars, and field days.
