About the role and team
We have an opportunity for a Legal Assistant to join our Statutory Insurance NSW/ACT team based in our Canberra office on a full time or part time basis. This role will provide administrative support to two special counsels and one lawyer.
Our Statutory Insurance NSW/ACT – Workers’ Compensation section has 8 team members based in our Canberra office, and forms part of our broader Statutory Insurance practice with around 120 people across NSW and ACT.
There is ongoing training and support available to our legal assistants, both at a team and firm level. We are looking for someone who is energetic, eager to learn and provides a great service to our lawyers and our clients.
Key responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- drafting of court documents and compiling of briefs;
- drafting correspondences and emails;
- assisting with the preparation of monthly team billing;
- managing all client file maintenance for the team;
- maintaining partners/lawyers’ contacts in our firm CRM InterAction, including assisting with list management on their behalf for events and communications;
- preparing files for archiving; and
- other duties as required.
Skills and experience
We would like to hear from candidates with the following skills and experience:
- administration experience;
- legal assistant experience is desirable but not necessary;
- excellent communication skills;
- strong ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- a great attitude and willingness to learn;
- a team player;
- excellent attention to detail;
- strong IT skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel;
- experience in using legal billing system and client management program (eg. Aderant would be desirable but not required); and
- experience in using document management system (eg iManage10 would be desirable but not required).
