The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a large and well respected Australian business operating within the educational sector based in the Eastern suburbs. Our client has a reputation for providing excellent training and promotion from within, alongside generous employee benefits / perks.

There is presently two roles available – an opportunity for a part-qualified Assistant Accountant looking to take the next step in their career, and a more senior position for a a qualified Accountant looking to take more responsibility and broaden their accounting knowledge. Both roles will play a crucial role within the financial control team where you can drive process improvements.

The Challenge

Reporting to the Finance Controller whilst playing a key role in supporting the finance team and broader commercial stakeholders, some of your key responsibilities will include:

  • Assist in the completion of month-end accounting tasks to ensure the timely reporting of all financial information to align with internal controls and statutory requirements.
  • Prepare daily and month-end journals and assist in the completion of GL and balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Assisting with the delivery of financial needs including monthly management reports, profit and loss reporting, capital expenditure reporting, cash reporting.
  • Liaison and supporting the external auditors to ensure the timely completion of the audit.
  • Project work and analysis to support the finance team.
  • Taking process improvement initiatives.

The Expertise

Please consider expressing interest in this position if you possess the following:

  • A relevant tertiary accounting qualification
  • Chartered Accountant or CPA qualification (or near completion)
  • 3-5 years’ relevant accounting experience, coming from professional services and/or corporate experience
  • Solid interpersonal and relationship management skills
  • Advanced computer literacy in Microsoft products, particularly Excel
  • Highly developed oral and written communication skills
