Position : PHARMACIST MANAGER – Accra
A reputable pharmaceutical company in Accra is looking for Pharmacist Managers to join its teams in Labone, Spintex, Tema Community One and Adabraka. The position is responsible for controlling, dispensing and distributing medicine. Working to legal and ethical guidelines set by the regulators to ensure the correct and safe supply of medical products to the Ghanaian community. To maintain inventory procedures for branch, maintain stock levels and ensure that the supplies are sufficient to meet the demand of customers. To maximise retail turnover and profitability of the business through maintaining excellent customer service.

Responsibilities
Professional Compliance:
- To ensure compliance with all statutory and professional requirements of a registered retail pharmacy business.
- Ensure that the Pharmacy is open for trading and dispensing of prescriptions during the registered opening hours
- Ensure that there is a registered pharmacist on the premises at all times throughout the contracted working hours of the Pharmacy.
- Ensure the highest professional standards of counter prescribing and Medicines Protocol implementation in line with legislation and company policy.
- Respect confidentiality of information concerning customers and colleagues in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Maintain confidentiality of company policies and figure statistics.
- Ensure all prescriptions are fully and accurately endorsed.
- Complete all paperwork requirements accurately on time.
- Attend and/or complete all courses/ meetings as required by the company and regulatory body.
- Ensure that the Pharmacy security is maintained at all times.
- Ensure prompt and accurate completion of all dispensary/professional paperwork.
- Ensure that all company policies and procedures (Quality Manual, Quality Management System, Quality Management Policy and Quality Goals) are adhered to.
- To ensure that prescriptions are processed in line with company policy and legislation.
- To be familiar with, understand and follow the appropriate company standard operating procedures, and ensure all colleagues comply.
- To ensure all prescription interventions, dispensing errors and near misses are reported, investigates and followed up to minimise risk or recurrence with support from the pharmacovigilance and quality team
- To ensure that Pharmacy and colleagues security is maintained at all times.
- To ensure that the Pharmacy is kept clean, tidy and well organised, with an efficient and safe workflow.
- To ensure the accurate completion and return of all company and Insurance paperwork and requests for information in a timely fashion.
Ensure high levels of customer service:
- To ensure that all customers feel welcome in the Pharmacy and are able to offer assistance at all times.
- To deal with all customer complaints promptly and professionally and report in line with company procedures.
- To maintain a high standard of personal appearance and adhere to company dress codes, and ensure all colleagues do the same. Counselling and advising customers on the treatment of minor ailments;
- Ensure that a senior member of colleagues is briefed to continue the smooth running of the Pharmacy in the manager’s absence.
- To accurately dispense medicines to the customers and ensure medicines are correctly and safely supplied and labelled.
Support and Develop Colleagues:
- To ensure the agreed level of colleagues and ensure all colleagues are trained to the required level for their role.
- To support, develop and motivate other members of the team and encourage effective teamwork
- To monitor performance and provide honest and constructive feedback as appropriate in a timely fashion to promote personal development and improve performance.

Support Pharmacy Services:
- To encourage the provision of all available pharmacy services

- To keep abreast of local activity that may provide opportunities or threats, and report where appropriate.
- To establish customer loyalty and promote sign up to the Prescription Collection Service.
- To ensure that locums fulfil the requirements of their role, including providing ECPL pharmacy services.
Stock Control:
- Ensure high standards of dispensary stock management, reduce stock holding and ensure maximum profitability
- To order only the stock required ensuring 3 days stock holding
- Ensure all orders are checked off accurately, and dispensary stock put out with care
- Ensure a date checking procedure is maintained and recorded
- Work closely with the retail supply chain manager to prevent expiries.
- Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels by conducting regular stock counts (mini-stock-takes) and reconciling any discrepancies.
- Coordinate with retail warehouse to ensure timely and accurate replenishment of stock, avoiding stockouts and overstock situations.
- Ensure compliance with inventory management policies and procedures.
- Ensure adequate shortlisting daily to replenish merchandise as needed.
- Oversee storage of products, and arrangements.
- Supervise shelf owners to maintain an organised and visually appealing layout of products on shelves, ensuring proper signage cleanliness and proper pricing.
- Maintain records of inventory adjustments, damaged items, and product returns, and provide accurate reports to OSM as needed.
- Implement and maintain efficient inventory control procedures, including stock rotation, First-Expiry-First-Out (FEFO) principles, and proper storage practices.
- Monitor and track slow-moving and propose appropriate actions, such as promotional activities or write-offs, to minimize financial losses.
- Liaise with supply chain manager to ensure procurement of new items.
Maximise profitability:
- To maximise retail turnover and profitability of the Pharmacy.
- To identify opportunities to improve working practices and increase Pharmacy and company revenue.
- Ensure high standards of retail and dispensary stock management, reduce stock holding and ensure maximum profitability
- To order only the stock required ensuring 3 days stock holding and prioritise FEFO.

Qualifications :
- Pharmacist (BSc. Pharmacy) with minimum 4 years of related experience in community pharmacy management
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Analytical and problem-solving skills

- Excellent communication skills both verbally and written
- Good IT skills
