Position : Workshop Manager – Takoradi
We are looking for a Workshop Manager.
Responsibilities:
Workshop & Maintenance Management
- Plan, develop, and implement preventive and corrective maintenance programs for the entire fleet to minimize downtime and extend vehicle lifespan.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance history, repairs, and inspections for all equipment and vehicles.
- Ensure timely diagnosis and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults.
- Oversee major repairs, rebuilds, and servicing of trucks and other heavy vehicles.
Team Leadership
- Lead, supervise, and coordinate daily activities of mechanics, technicians, and workshop support staff.
- Conduct training sessions for the workshop team to ensure up-to-date knowledge on modern repair techniques and safety protocols.
- Carry out regular performance appraisals; set clear KPIs and promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
Inventory & Resource Management
- Manage workshop resources including tools, diagnostic equipment, and service machinery.
- Control inventory of spare parts, lubricants, and consumables; ensure adequate stock levels while controlling costs.
- Source and negotiate with suppliers and service vendors to ensure the procurement of high-quality parts at competitive prices.
Cost Management
- Prepare, monitor, and control the annual workshop budget, ensuring all operations stay within approved financial limits.
- Track and report maintenance costs, identifying opportunities for cost reduction without compromising quality.
Compliance
- Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental regulations as required by local and international transport and logistics standards.
- Develop and implement safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries in the workshop.
- Ensure all trucks meet roadworthiness, licensing, and regulatory standards before deployment.
Operational Support
- Provide technical support during emergency vehicle breakdowns, coordinating rapid roadside assistance when necessary.
- Work closely with the Logistics & Transport department to ensure fleet availability in line with operational schedules.
- Liaise with third-party service providers for specialist repairs and services not handled in-house.

Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Technology, or a related technical field.
- Minimum of 3-5 years hands-on experience in fleet maintenance or workshop management for trucks and heavy vehicles.
- At least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role managing workshop teams.
- Strong technical expertise in diesel engines, hydraulic systems, electrical diagnostics, and vehicle systems.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a diverse technical team.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communicator, capable of providing clear instructions to technical teams and reporting to senior management.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on quality and safety.
- Proactive, self-driven, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High integrity and commitment to operational excellence.
