Position : Mechanical Engineer – Accra
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our freight forwarding company. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing mechanical systems related to cargo handling, transportation, and logistics operations. This role requires expertise in mechanical maintenance, equipment efficiency, and safety compliance within the freight and logistics sector.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical equipment, including trucks, containers, cranes, conveyor belts, and other cargo-handling machinery.
- Ensure all mechanical systems operate efficiently to minimize downtime and enhance logistics performance.
- Conduct regular inspections, diagnostics, and preventive maintenance on transportation and cargo equipment.
- Work closely with the operations and logistics teams to ensure all equipment meets safety and compliance standards.
- Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues to prevent disruptions in freight movement.
- Collaborate with vendors, contractors, and service providers for the procurement of parts and outsourced maintenance services.
- Keep detailed records of maintenance schedules, repairs, and equipment performance for operational efficiency.
- Implement energy-efficient and cost-effective solutions to optimize mechanical operations.
- Stay updated with the latest mechanical engineering advancements relevant to the freight and logistics industry.

Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years of experience in mechanical maintenance within the freight forwarding, logistics, or transportation industry.
- Strong knowledge of cargo handling equipment, heavy-duty vehicle maintenance, and mechanical systems.
- Proficiency in diagnostics, repair techniques, and preventive maintenance strategies.
- Familiarity with industry regulations and safety standards related to mechanical operations in logistics.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to coordinate with different teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with warehouse automation systems and conveyor belt technologies.
- Knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Certification in equipment safety and maintenance standards.
